Instead Of Gujarat, Cong’s Top Netas Fixated About Their Mobiles Or Abroad: Hardik’s Resignation

NEW DELHI: Patidar Gujarat leader Hardik Patel, who took the 2017 elections by storm in his home state, is no longer cryptic about his posts on social media as he announced to quit the Congress party, barely three days after Chintan Shivir in Udaipur concluded.

In his resignation letter to party interim Chief Sonia Gandhi, Patel was unapologetically acerbic with ripostes on the irresponsible and cavalier attitude of the leaders of the Grand Old Party.

“Whenever I met the leadership, I felt that instead of focusing on the issues of Gujarat, they had more focus on their mobiles.”

He also lambasted the Gujarat Congress leadership and said that they are more interested in ensuring “chicken sandwiches” for the leaders coming from Delhi.

Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi indirectly, he said, “Whenever this country was in need and need the Congress leadership more at that time our leaders were abroad.

The 28-year-old along with then two other young party colleagues Alpesh Thakor and Jignesh Mevani, had brought out a loud rap on BJP’s knuckle after they threatened to pull off giant victories with huge rallies in the state in elections in the poll-bound state five years ago. Of them, Thakor has since joined BJP and Mevani, who was elected as an independent MLA from Vadgam has been throwing his weight behind the Congress, with Assam CM Himanta Biswa registering a case against him two weeks ago.

Patel’s resignation threatens to rock Congress’ boat ahead of scheduled elections this year as he had shared the stage with former Rahul in Dahod less than a month ago.

The OBC leader who had joined the Congress ahead of 2017 assembly election in the state, remarked ” “In this 21st century the youth of the country wants a strong leadership while in last three years,  the Congress has remained limited to only opposing politics whereas the country needs a leadership which does not believe in  just opposing and taking the country forward instead.”

He accused Congress of creating stumbling blocks in the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, declaration of CAA and NRC, abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and implementation of GST.

“People rejected Congress in several states because the party and its leadership was unable to give a proper road map,” Patel pointed out.

In 2017 polls, Congress had taken the elections live to the wire by clocking 77 seat wins in the 182-member assembly, breaking their own 32-year-record with the highest tally thus far. BJP, however, had managed to romp home by the skin of their teeth, registering 99 wins, just a touch above the 92-mark majority.
