NEW DELHI: In a continued demonstration of its zero-tolerance policy against corruption, the Yogi Adityanath government has suspended Vikas Yadav, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Naraini in Banda, with immediate effect. This action comes following charges of severe negligence, misconduct, and failure to address public interest issues effectively.

This decisive move was aimed towards the administration’s commitment to maintaining integrity and accountability within the state’s public service. Yadav is accused of supervisory indifference and tarnishing the administration’s image by failing to perform his official duties properly. This suspension follows significant punitive actions in Firozabad, where five officials, including the SDM and Naib Tehsildar, were suspended for illegal land seizure and allocation.

During his suspension, Yadav will be attached to the Lucknow office of the Deputy District Magistrate Commissioner and Secretary, Revenue Council, Uttar Pradesh. He will receive only half his salary and will be deprived of all benefits, including the dearness allowance. Additionally, he will face a departmental inquiry, and a charge sheet will be filed against him.

The state government’s recent actions in Firozabad’s Sirsaganj tehsil revealed illegal and suspicious land allotments to close associates, leading to the suspension of the Deputy District Magistrate, Naib Tehsildar, Revenue Inspector, Lekhpal, and Peshkar. CM directed the District Magistrate to register an FIR and initiate departmental actions against these officials, further emphasising the state’s stringent stance against corruption.

The zero-tolerance policy aims to instill a culture of integrity and prompt resolution of public interest issues, thereby strengthening public trust in the government.
