The front and back portions of Tyagi’s flat on the ground floor were razed within a few minutes. The residents of the society egged on the administration.

Some raised slogans “Yogi sarkar zindabad” and “UP Police zindabad”. Some said that the action should have been taken earlier.

A resident, Kavita Singh, told The New Indian, “The complaint against the illegal encroachment was lodged two years back. No action was taken, though he was restrained from building concrete structures. But he kept encroaching by gardening and setting up wooden structures.”
