IPS officer Vaibhav – an alumnus of IIT Kanpur who runs the social initiative ‘Let’s Inspire Bihar’ – also alleged that DG Ohotkar’s abuses were directed towards his wife and mother.
An IG-rank Bihar police officer on Thursday accused his boss – director general for home guard and fire services Shobha Ohotkar, of hurling verbal abuses at him, and sought two months’ leave.
In response, Ohotkar – widely known as ‘hunter-wali’ in Bihar – fired a show cause notice for levelling “baseless allegations” against her.
In a now-deleted tweet, inspect general (IG) Vikash Vaibhav alleged that he had been subjected to verbal abuses by his boss Ohotkar since he took charge in October last year. He also claimed that he possessed an audio clip of abuses.
“I was given the responsibility of IG (home guard and fire services) on October 18, 2022. Since then, I have been subjected to abuses (recorded) by DG ma’am every day despite trying my best to deliver my best. Today, I am really in pain,” he wrote on Twitter.
IPS officer Vaibhav – an alumnus of IIT Kanpur who runs the social initiative ‘Let’s Inspire Bihar’ – also alleged that DG Ohotkar’s abuses were directed towards his wife and mother.
On Facebook, he wrote, “I was asked not to carry my mobile phone since (it was feared) that I could record the conversation and abuses. I am deeply in pain… I pray to the almighty to deliver justice for such an insult.”
In another post, he also alleged that director general Ohotkar also abused him for his Bihari identity. “I was saddened to note that for the first time after class 9th studies, I was abused for being Bihari because she thinks that the chief minister did not choose me for the job of the director general,” the IPS officer wrote.
He has, however, deleted all the social media posts.
In the show cause notice, DG Ohotkar wrote, “In several social media posts that have now gone viral, you have written that you were abused by a senior female police officer. You also said that you have the recording of the conversation.”
“…which makes it clear that you tried to malign the image of your senior by levelling baseless allegations,” the notice said, adding that IPS officer Vaibhav violates provisions of the All India Services Manual.
“You also admitted in the public domain of recordings, which makes it clear that you record conversations during official meetings. It exhibits your bad intentions and is also a violation of some provision of the Official Secrets Act,” DG Ohotkar wrote in the notice.
Vaibhav is quite popular in Bihar and thousands of people are involved in his social initiative in many districts of the state. He has earlier served in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and worked as superintendent of police (SP) in Patna and Rohtas.
Nearly a week ago, senior IAS officer KK Pathak abused and threatened a junior officer on camera during an official meeting, drawing protests and a police case.
