SRINAGAR: Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan will lead a key meeting in Srinagar on Monday to assess winter readiness, security challenges, and developmental initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir.

The high-level discussion, which will take place at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC), will address post-snowfall challenges, counterterrorism measures, and infiltration threats along the Line of Control (LoC).

Top officials, including Chief Secretary Atal Duloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, the Army’s 15 Corps Commander, and senior intelligence representatives, will join the deliberations.

According to sources, officials will present strategies for the expected heavy snowfall and ensure and ensure uninterrupted power, water, road access, and healthcare services in affected regions. Security concerns will dominate discussions, especially on countering recent increases in cross-border infiltration attempts and enhancing anti-terror operations.

Winter-specific challenges, such as avalanches and landslides, are also on the agenda. Authorities will outline plans to minimise disruptions and expedite rescue efforts in snow-bound zones.

The harsh winter often sees a spike in infiltration attempts as terrorists exploit difficult weather to cross the LoC. Reinforcing the counter-infiltration grid and improving coordination among security agencies will be key priorities.

The meeting will also evaluate the progress of infrastructure and employment-driven projects, particularly those funded by central schemes. Officials are expected to highlight ongoing challenges and propose solutions for smoother execution.
