NEW DELHI: A day after the brutal broad daylight murder of a tailor in Rajasthan’s Udaipur by two Muslim youths, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday transferred the probe to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
MHA has directed the NIA to take over the investigation of the brutal murder of Kanhaiya Lal Teli committed at Udaipur yesterday, the government said on Wednesday. “The involvement of any organisation and international links will be thoroughly investigated,” it said.
The New Indian reported on Tuesday that a team of the anti-terror probe agency had left for the Udaipur to look at the gruesome act of the murder and filming of the entire sequence.
The NIA source said that the way in which assailants prepared the video and also uploaded it on social media to create terror in society by brandishing their blood-soaked weapons, the agency has taken the matter seriously.

The source said that the way in which the two assailants also threatened to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi thus the NIA will investigate to find if the arrested accused have any links to any terror outfits.
Following the murder of the tailor in Udaipur, Section 144 has been imposed and internet connection has been suspended. The Rajasthan government has deployed additional force in the city to maintain law and order
The two assailants were arrested by the police on Tuesday from the Rajsamand area of the state.
Following the gruesome murder, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot while condemning the incident has appealed for peace.

On Wednesday, Gehlot called a meeting with the officials over the law and order situation in the state after the killing of Lal on June 28.
According to state government sources, cabinet ministers will also be present in the meeting with Chief Minister.
