NEW DELHI: In a bid to promote water conservation and financial inclusion, True Credits Pvt. Ltd., in collaboration with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), has unveiled Project HARMONY 2.0: “Be Water Wise!” This initiative targets the villages of Meham and Firozpur-Jhirka in Haryana, addressing critical water challenges and empowering local communities through education and resource management.

True Credits is the licensed lending arm of True Balance, an RBI-authorized fintech platform. Focused on financial inclusion, the company offers innovative credit solutions for underserved sections of the economy, supporting livelihoods and aspirations across India.

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) is a New Delhi-based think tank dedicated to sustainable development and environmental conservation. Established in 1974, TERI provides innovative research and advisory services, driving impactful change globally.

With over two billion people globally lacking access to safe water, the project aims to contribute to sustainable development by introducing clean drinking water systems in government schools and refurbishing local water bodies.

A central component of the project is the revitalization of a local pond in Meham. The refurbishment will include rainwater harvesting, runoff management, and beautification efforts such as solar-powered lighting and plantation drives to reduce water evaporation and maintain soil moisture. The upgraded pond is envisioned as a community hub, fostering social interaction and spreading awareness about water conservation.

In addition, government schools will be equipped with solar-powered clean drinking water systems, ensuring a sustainable supply of safe water. The solar infrastructure will also provide renewable energy to meet basic electrical needs.

The initiative goes beyond water conservation by training over 120 students in financial and digital literacy. These young learners will gain critical skills to navigate economic challenges and will serve as “Water Ambassadors” in their communities. As advocates of sustainable water practices, they will lead by example, encouraging responsible resource management among their peers and families.

Interactive activities like the “Water Ambassador Challenge” aim to creatively engage students, fostering a deeper commitment to conservation efforts.

True Credits has integrated an employee volunteering program into the project, allowing staff members to participate in community mobilization, student training, and outreach workshops. This approach underscores the company’s commitment to aligning corporate values with social impact.

The training modules cover diverse topics, including rainwater harvesting, wastewater treatment, and financial literacy, with practical lessons on consumer rights, fraud prevention, and effective resource management.

Mr. Gaurav Sharma, CHRO of True Credits Pvt. Ltd., highlighted the initiative’s holistic approach: “Project HARMONY 2.0 represents our unwavering commitment to addressing the critical needs of the communities we serve. By combining water conservation efforts, renewable energy solutions, and financial literacy training, we aim to create a lasting impact. Our collaboration with TERI underscores the power of partnerships in achieving sustainable development goals.”

Dr. Mini Govindan, Senior Fellow at TERI, emphasized the importance of collective action: “Collaborative efforts are the cornerstone of sustainable development. Through Project HARMONY 2.0, we are addressing immediate community needs while fostering long-term resilience and environmental stewardship.”

By focusing on clean water, quality education, and renewable energy, “Be Water Wise!” aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). True Credits aims to ensure the project’s lasting impact through continuous community engagement and capacity building.
