KOLKATA: Hours after the Bengal government sacked Partha Chatterjee from the cabinet, the ruling Trinamool Congress is meeting to discuss the fate of the senior party leader who found himself embroiled in the Teacher’s Recruitment Scam.

TMC’s all-powerful national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, the nephew of party supremo and Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, will chair the disciplinary meet that will discuss the matter.

The meeting will start at 5 pm at Trinamool Bhawan.

Interestingly, among seven disciplinary committee members, only five will appear because Sudip Banerjee is in Delhi attending the parliament monsoon session while Chatterjee, who is a member of the committee, is under Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody.

It is likely that Chatterjee’s involvement in the multi-crore scam, that has tainted Banerjee’s overall image at the national level, will be discussed in the meeting.

Apart from Abhishek Banerjee, Subrata Bakshi, Boby Hakim, Arup Biswas and Chandrima Bhattacharya are attending the event.
