JAMMU: The Indian Army thwarted a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district this morning. A serviceman was wounded in the early morning strike on a military base, according to preliminary reports. The security personnel initiated an extensive search effort to eliminate terrorists following the attack, stated a defence representative.

This occurs amid a series of terrorist attacks in the Jammu area, heightening serious security concerns. The incident was reported less than a day after Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited Jammu and discussed strategies to address the sharp increase in major terrorist attacks in the region that had been terrorism-free until a few years ago.

Sources indicate a heavily armed group of terrorists attacked an army base and also the residence of Shaurya Chakra Awardee Parshotam Kumar in Gunda village.

Kumar, a Village Defense Guard, played a crucial role in neutralizing two terrorists in the same area in August last year. He was recently honoured with the Shaurya Chakra for his valour by President Droupadi Murmu.

The Indian Army has already deployed additional forces including special para commandos in the Jammu area to combat highly trained terrorists who have infiltrated the region and continue to carry out successive attacks.
