NEW DELHI: Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur on Sunday met with Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan and co-founder of Boat Aman Gupta under the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Sampark Se Samarthan Maha Abhiyan.

During his meeting, Thakur apprised Dhawan and Gupta about the work and achievements of the PM Narendra Modi government in the last nine years.

“Today we met a young entrepreneur and co-founder of Boat, Aman Gupta, who has raised the name of India all over the world. When we talk about Brand India, on the one hand, PM Modi is leading it and on the other hand, our young entrepreneurs are taking it further with their hard work and dedication,” Thakur said.

“Today, Indian brands are making their way in the world markets due to the strong leadership of their founders and the policies of the PM Modi’s government. I believe that in the same way, the country also needs stability to move forward, which is only possible under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party government,” the Union minister added.

Gupta said, Earlier, we did not have a strong and clear vision for startups and entrepreneurs in India. When Prime Minister Modi went to America recently, the whole world accepted us as the Next Big Thing. Today, Startup Day is not celebrated anywhere else in the world, only in India.”

“Earlier, entrepreneurship was in the hands of a few, today it has been democratised. The country has got political stability in the last 9 years. I hope it will continue further,” he added.

Praising PM Modi, Gupta said, “Earlier, no one even thought about Make in India and Made in India. PM Modi thought and did it. Today, we are making electronic goods in India. Earlier, people used to make fun of making electronic goods in India. Today it is possible.”

On his meeting with Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan, Thakur said, “We have told Shikhar ji about the achievements of the government and sought his and the sports community’s support. During the PM Modi government’s tenure in the last 9 years, India has seen a 360-degree change in sports.”

Dhawan, who had led India in the shorter formats of the game, said, “We are proud to see the achievements of the government. Today, the sports process and infrastructure of the entire country are getting stronger. Today, we feel proud wherever we go. Earlier we used to be called Sone ki Chidiya, we are moving in the same direction today.”

The Union Minister further said, “PM Modi’s government has always worked on the policy of making our youth ‘job givers’ rather than ‘job seekers’. Due to the policies of the Modi government, today India has become the third largest startup ecosystem hub in the world.”

Thakur added, “Both Gupta and Dhawan appreciated the policies of PM Modi’s government to promote sports and provide opportunities to the youth and expressed their enthusiasm and satisfaction over India’s growing dominance and India’s favourable position on the economic front also.”
