NEW DELHI: In an exciting development for the upcoming inaugural Kho Kho World Cup 2025, the Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI) President, Sudhanshu Mittal, revealed that cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar is in talks to join the event.
This announcement has heightened the anticipation surrounding the tournament, which is set to kick off on January 13, 2025, at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.
During the launch event of the Kho Kho World Cup, which took place today at The Imperial Hotel in New Delhi, Mittal confirmed that Tendulkar, one of India’s most celebrated sports figures, would be playing a key role in the tournament.

“Sachin Tendulkar is in talks with us, and we are hopeful that he will be joining the event very soon,” said Sudhanshu Mittal.
The Kho Kho World Cup 2025 will feature 21 men’s and 20 women’s teams from 24 countries across six continents, highlighting the growing international appeal of the sport.
The tournament will be broadcast live on Star Sports and Doordarshan, with streaming available on Disney+ Hotstar, making it accessible to fans worldwide.

In addition to Tendulkar’s imminent involvement, the event also unveiled the prestigious tournament trophies. The blue trophy for the men’s championship and the green trophy for the women’s event symbolize trust, determination, growth, and vitality.
The launch introduced the official mascots for the World Cup, Tejas and Tara, two gazelles that represent speed, agility, and teamwork the core values of Kho Kho.
This inaugural World Cup is expected to serve as a catalyst for Kho Kho’s inclusion in the Olympics and elevate the sport to a global stage.
The KKFI’s collaboration with major sponsors, including EaseMyTrip, Star Sports, and GMR Sports, underscores the significance of the event.
With Sachin Tendulkar expected to join soon, the Kho Kho World Cup 2025 is set to become a landmark event in Indian sports history.
