Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha State President Durgesh Singh said that the Minister's statement regarding Ramcharitmanas has deeply hurt people who believe in Sanatan Dharma

The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha on Wednesday filed a case against the Education Minister in the Civil Court of Patna. Several petitions have already been filed against the minister for hurting religious sentiments including a recent one in Nawada, where a social worker, filed a case against him.

Bihar education minister has landed in trouble after he made controversial remarks against Ramcharitmanas.

After filing the petition, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha State President Durgesh Singh said,” The Minister’s statement regarding Ramcharitmanas has deeply hurt the people who believe in Sanatan Dharma. Until the Education Minister does not apologize for his statement or the Chief Minister removes him from the position, we will continue our protest.”

It should be noted that Bihar’s Education Minister Chandrasekhar had sparked a row by comparing Hindu scriptures Ramcharitmanas and Manusmriti with those which spread hatred in society. He stated that these religious textbooks prohibit women and backward classes from getting an education.

Meanwhile, addressing as the guest of honor at the 15th convocation ceremony of Nalanda Open University yesterday at Gyan Bhawan in Patna, Bihar’s Education Minister said,” India will be made strong and prosperous by love and not by hatred. There are more than six thousand castes in the country and they have created a wall of hatred. As long as this wall is present in society, India cannot become Vishwaguru.

On Sunday, agitated members of Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha burnt effigies of the Education Minister.

The Ramcharitmanas row has resulted in a major crisis in Mahagathbandhan with RJD and JDU reacting differently to the minister’s statements. While Deputy CM Tejashwi defended his minister’s freedom of expression and maintained the stand that there is no book holier than the constitution for his party, Nitish Kumar said that people in positions of power should refrain from meddling in religious matters.
