A Hindu man was stabbed by three Muslims when he opposed the molestation of women playing Garba in Bikaner district of Rajasthan, prompting a huge uproar and calls for justice on social media.
Sameer Nadsa, Shahrukh Pathan and Zubair Khan were allegedly molesting Hindu girls and women at a Dandiya event when the victim, Madhusudan Modi, protested their advances on October 1.
Soon, more men from both sides joined in and a fight broke out at the Railway Ground in Bikaner.
“Both sides made threatening calls against each other. Later, the victim, Madhusudan Modi, was attacked brutally with a knife outside the event venue,” as per local police officials.
He was rushed to a hospital where he is recuperating. “He is still in an unconscious state and his condition is critical,” informed Laxmi Ram, assistant sub-inspector at Kote Gate police station.
An FIR has been registered against the trio under the relevant section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The main accused, Sameer was arrested on Monday.
Speaking to The New Indian, ASI Laxmi Ram said: “A hunt is on to nab the two others. Around 15 people are involved in the attack on Madhusudan.”
Madhusudan was operated upon at Bikaner’s PBM hospital for injuries.
Several politicians and activists have criticised the Rajasthan Police for alleged inaction, a charge rejected by cops at Kote Gate police station.
“We are investigating the matter properly,” assured sub inspector Rajendra Kumar, adding that the other two accused will be apprehended soon.
The police are also trying to identify other accused involved in the matter, he informed.
A video of the scuffle and attack at the Garba venue has gone viral on social media platforms, with netizens demanding justice for the victim.
“Mohammedan youth attacked Hindu youth Madhusudan Modi with a knife at a Garba event when he objected to them for eve teasing & molesting Hindu girls. Talibani fascists ideology is growing & flourishing in New India,” wrote Ritu, a Twitter user.
Samrat, another Twitterati, said: “Madhusudan’s eyes were góuged out by Zubair, Sameer, and Shahrukh for opposing Molestatīon of girls at a #Garba event in Bikaner, Rajasthan. This is what they do inside Garba pandal, while Liberals advocate for them.”
