Hours after Prashant Kishor arrest for demanding the cancellation of the BPSC prelims, he was granted bail by a civil court in Patna.
NEW DELHI: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) conducted the re-examination for the Combined Competitive Exam (CCE) Prelims 2024 on January 4.
However, only 5,943 candidates appeared for the exam, even though the Commission had issued hall tickets to 12,012 candidates.
This low turnout comes in the wake of allegations of a paper leak during the initial exam held at the Bapu Examination Complex Centre on December 13.

Following the incident, revised admit cards were issued, but only 8,111 candidates downloaded them for the re-exam.
Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor has been leading the charge, demanding the cancellation of the BPSC prelims.
On Monday, Kishor was arrested at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, where he has been on a fast unto death as part of his five-point protest.

According to Jan Suraaj’s press release, Kishor was forcibly taken to the hospital by the police, with allegations surfacing that he was slapped during the intervention. A supporter also claimed that police threw away Kishor’s spectacles.
Videos of the incident have circulated online, further fueling the protests.
Hours after his arrest, Kishor was granted bail by a civil court in Patna. However, the protests, which have continued for over two weeks at Gandhi Maidan, show no signs of slowing down, as students and activists demand accountability and fairness in the examination process.
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) faced a similar issue of low turnout.
In its PCS exam held on December 22, only 2,41,212 candidates (about 42%) appeared out of the 5,76,154 who applied.
