The news of King Charles III’s diagnosis came to light following a routine hospital procedure for a benign prostate enlargement, as confirmed by Buckingham Palace on Monday. This development has marked a significant turn in the life of the 75-year-old monarch, who assumed the throne last year following the demise of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
Amid the challenges posed by the diagnosis, the palace emphasised the king’s resilience and positivity in the face of adversity. It also said that while undergoing treatment for the newly discovered cancer, King Charles III remains steadfast in his commitment to fulfilling his duties, albeit with necessary adjustments advised by his medical team.
The announcement of King Charles III’s health condition has prompted an outpouring of support and well-wishes from across the globe. Notably, his estranged son, Prince Harry, has publicly expressed his affection and concern for his father’s health. Despite residing in California with his wife Meghan, Prince Harry has made plans to travel to the UK in the near future to be by his father’s side during this challenging time.
