NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal unveiled a new initiative for women during a public dialogue in Burari on Friday, pledging Rs. 1,000 per month for all mothers and sisters in the city. He assured residents that the registration process for the scheme would begin soon, emphasizing that only women with valid voter ID cards would qualify.

Interacting with an enthusiastic crowd during his padyatra, Kejriwal received a warm reception with chants of “Phir Lenge Kejriwal” (We will bring Kejriwal again) and garlands from supporters. He encouraged women without voter IDs to secure one to avail themselves of the scheme’s benefits. Local MLA Sanjeev Jha and senior AAP leaders joined the event to lend their support.

Separately, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia criticized the BJP government for escalating violence in Delhi, citing gang-related shootouts in areas like Kabir Nagar and Narayana. He also highlighted growing public anxiety over bomb threats targeting schools and airports, accusing the BJP of inaction.

On Saturday, Kejriwal inaugurated a 450-bed government hospital in Burari via video conference. He hailed the hospital as a timely addition to Delhi’s healthcare infrastructure, particularly as COVID-19 cases in the capital have significantly declined since peaking on June 23 with 3,947 cases.
