NEW DELHI: The Indian Army hosted its annual Idea & Innovation Competition and Seminar, Inno-Yoddha 2024, at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi. General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, inaugurated the event, which highlighted in-house innovations aimed at addressing operational challenges and enhancing the Army’s capabilities.
Inno-Yoddha is an initiative to identify and develop solutions crafted by soldiers based on their field experiences. These innovations address gaps in operations, logistics, and training, leveraging the troops’ technical skills and ingenuity. General Dwivedi emphasized the importance of innovation in modern warfare, stating, “Innovation is a mindset. It drives progress and shapes the future.”

This year, 75 innovations were shortlisted from unit, formation, and Command Headquarters levels. Of these, 22 top innovations were showcased and will proceed for refinement and production under the Army Design Bureau. The process includes Research and Development (R&D), securing Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs), and industrial collaboration for bulk manufacturing, ensuring deployment across the Army.
The Indian Army’s efforts through Inno-Yoddha align with the national vision of self-reliance. Innovations are refined and ruggedized before being transferred to private industries for mass production. This partnership fosters indigenous defense technology, contributing to the larger goal of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India).

Over the past four years, Inno Yodha has resulted in:
– 26 IPRs filed.
– 21 completed innovations.
– Technology transfer for three products to private industries.
Key innovations include:
– Exploder by FC Tech, launched in June 2024.
– Agniastra by Red Kite Digital Tech, unveiled in October 2024.
– Vidyut Rakshak, now under production by IS Trading Company.
General Dwivedi felicitated the innovators behind the 22 displayed projects, lauding their creativity and dedication. He urged to adopt critical thinking and continue pursuing innovative solutions to operational challenges.
