NEW DELHI: On Wednesday, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) carried out a demolition drive against encroachment by removing illegal constructions in Delhi’s strife-torn Jahangirpuri area. Communal clashes had broken out in the area last week during a Hanuman Jayanti procession. However, after the Supreme Court’s order to halt the drive, the demolition was stopped. North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh said that the civic body will follow the apex court’s orders and take action accordingly.
