SRINAGAR: As the torrential rains lashed the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Army last night saved four precious lives in a daring operation in the Poonch district of Jammu.

The operation to rescue the person was launched after a local Army unit got distress calls. The Army within no time got into action and rescued four trapped persons.

On the night of 27-28 July 2022, the Indian Army in coordination with SDRF and J&K Police rescued four precious lives at Jhulas, in Poonch district, the Army said.

Army swiftly responded to a critical situation, in which four youths were trapped in the Poonch river flash flood due to incessant rains in the region, they added.

Meanwhile, authorities have sounded an alert asking people to remain cautious after the rise in water level in the Chenab river following nightlong rainfall.

The water level of Chenab, recorded at 9.15 am, was at the danger mark level. Due to nightlong rainfall in the Jammu province, all the tributaries feeding water to Chenab got flooded.

The alert mark for the water level in the river is 32 feet while 35 feet, at which the river is flowing currently, is the danger mark.
