The BJP is set for a landslide victory in Gujarat to retain power for a seventh straight term and is likely to break previous records by winning the highest number of seats in any assembly election in the state. As BJP hit the 150 plus seats mark, the Gujarat state leadership wasted no time in announcing victory and dates for the oath taking ceremony. “Gujarat CM oath taking ceremony will be held on December 12,” said CR Patil, BJP state President.
Both Patil and Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel rushed to Kamalam, BJP office in Ahmedabad to announce victory. Patil said that the oath taking ceremony will happen at 2 pm on December 12.
Patil said Bhupendra Patel will continue to be the Chief Minister.
Bhupendra Patel won from Ghatlodia (constituency number 41) after leading with over 50,000 votes over his nearest rival Dr Amee Yajnik of Congress. According to latest updates from the Election Commission, Patel had polled 80.86 per cent vote, compared to 9.81 per cent vote polled by his Congress rival Amiben Yagnik. On the other hand, AAP candidate Vijay Patel was running third with 6.73 per cent vote.
