Streamlined racing vehicles thundered along a 1.7 km course from Lalit Ghat on the shores of Dal Lake to Nehru Park within the city. Scores of eager young individuals gathered along the scenic Boulevard road at the base of the Zabarwan mountain range to observe the spectacle.
SRINAGAR: Srinagar hosted the inaugural Formula 4 car racing exhibition on Sunday alongside the renowned Dal Lake. The showcase captivated residents and motorsport enthusiasts, showcasing stunts executed by seasoned Formula 4 drivers.
Streamlined racing vehicles thundered along a 1.7 km course from Lalit Ghat on the shores of Dal Lake to Nehru Park within the city. Scores of eager young individuals gathered along the scenic Boulevard road at the base of the Zabarwan mountain range to observe the spectacle.
Authorities told The New Indian, “ The event was orchestrated to boost tourism in the area and inspire young people to contemplate pursuing the sport professionally.” This inaugural event in the Kashmir Valley was arranged by the Federation of Motorsports Clubs of India, affiliated with the International Automobile Federation (FIA).

Describing the event’s hosting in Srinagar as a notable achievement, Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, expressed that it would broaden the spectrum of options for Kashmiri sports enthusiasts and signal the beginning of a fresh career avenue for valley devotees.
The officials had positioned C-type 2-tier barricades, including crimson barricades, at either extremity of the route, alongside stationing a medical team equipped with two advanced life support ambulances and fire suppressants.
Meanwhile, in a post, Prime Minister Modi expressed that the event would further showcase the beauty of Jammu and Kashmir. “This is very heartening to see. It will help further showcase the beauty of Jammu and Kashmir. India offers great opportunities for motorsports to thrive, and Srinagar is among the top places where it can happen!” he said.

The organizers made meticulous preparations for the event, which kicked off at 10 am and wrapped up by 2 pm. The competition showcased daring manoeuvres executed by seasoned Formula 4 drivers. The experts also imparted their knowledge and expertise to local youngsters interested in this thrilling motorsport discipline.
