NEW DELHI: In a dramatic turn of events, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan claimed on Monday morning that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrived at his house to arrest him. The ED team, accompanied by paramilitary officials and local police, visited his residence in connection with a Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) case lodged against him. The ED sought to question Khan regarding financial irregularities related to the Delhi Waqf Board.

The Aam Aadmi Party swiftly condemned the ED’s actions, alleging bias and political vendetta. AAP leader Sanjay Singh criticized the ED, stating that despite being reprimanded by the apex court multiple times, the agency had not changed its ways. “Khan’s mother-in-law has cancer, and his lawyer informed the ED, but they still raided his house,” Singh said, highlighting the insensitivity of the raid.

As of now, the ED has not issued an official statement regarding the raid. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seized the opportunity to attack AAP. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva accused AAP of harbouring criminals and corrupt individuals. “When action is taken against them, they start shouting,” Sachdeva remarked.

Sachdeva further criticized Khan, labelling him as infamous for his hooliganism and now facing legal action for corruption and embezzlement in the Delhi Waqf Board. “When the ED reached his house today, Amanatullah Khan did not give any reason but only mentioned in his video that the ED had come to arrest him,” Sachdeva added. He emphasized that the law is equal for everyone and must be upheld.

This incident has sparked a fresh wave of political controversy, with both parties trading barbs and accusations. The public awaits further developments as the ED continues its investigation.
