The Delhi Social Welfare minister, Raaj Kumar Anand, met with the family of a corona warrior who lost his life while on duty due to COVID-19 and presented them with a cheque of ₹1 crore on behalf of the Delhi Government.

During his service at TGT Government Children’s Higher Secondary School Model Town-3, teacher Hemant Kumar contracted the virus and passed away while battling COVID-19 in the hospital.

“Although the ex-gratia amount cannot compensate for the loss suffered by the families, I hope that this financial aid will assist them in improving their future and livelihood,” Anand said.

The Kejriwal Government has granted financial aid of one crore rupees each to the families of several corona warriors of Delhi who lost their lives while serving during the COVID-19 period.

Assuring the family of the late Hemant Kumar of all possible help in the future as well, Anand said, “Teacher Hemant Kumar contracted COVID-19 while serving in TGT Government Boys Higher Secondary School Model Town-3 during the Corona period, but unfortunately, he could not win the battle against the virus in the hospital and passed away.”

“On behalf of the Kejriwal Government, we are providing financial aid to his family so that his family members can receive support for their livelihood and future. This scheme of the Delhi Government gives confidence to the families of Corona warriors that the government and society are always with them,” the minister added.

Anand said that in order to serve the public amidst the Corona pandemic, the doctors, nurses, and employees stayed away from their relatives and provided 24-hour services for the treatment of patients.

“Meanwhile, many Corona warriors themselves got infected and even lost their lives. I pray to God that his soul rests in peace,” he said.

Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government has given an honorarium of ₹1 crore each to the families of more than 70 corona warriors of Delhi who lost their lives in the pandemic.

“The Delhi government is always ready to help them. We express our gratitude to all our corona warriors, who have served the people without caring for their lives,” the minister said.
