Court declares 23 terrorists from J&K’s Kishtwar as proclaimed offenders

JAMMU: The Special Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) Court in Doda on Monday declared 23 terrorists from Kishtwar district, who are operating from Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK) as proclaimed offenders and issued orders to attach their properties if they don’t surrender before the court within 30 days.

With this, the total number of Kishtwar terrorists operating from Pakistan and PoJK who have been declared as proclaimed offenders have gone up to 36.

Among 23, properties of 12 have been identified but the attachment process will begin after the expiry of the 30-day deadline set by the court if they don’t surrender by then.

“In a significant move to address security challenges within the district, 23 terrorists from Kishtwar operating from Pakistan and PoJK have been declared proclaimed offenders by the UAPA special court in Doda,” SSP Khalil Poswal Kishtwar said. Out of 13 terrorists declared offenders previously, properties of seven have been identified for attachment.

At a press conference, he said, “ Till now there has been no contact by any of the terrorists for surrender.” He further added, “Families of the terrorists will be informed by police teams that if their kin don’t surrender, their properties will be attached.”

The court declared 23 terrorists as proclaimed offenders and gave them 30 days time to appear before it in connection with cases registered against them, failing which their properties will be attached.

There are 36 terrorists from Kishtwar who are operating from Pakistan and PoJK. Two FIRs have been registered against them.

“The diligent efforts of Kishtwar Police resulted in crucial intelligence after which two FIRs were registered against these terrorists before meticulously presenting all information before the court. We are working closely with law enforcement agencies to follow the due process and bring these individuals to justice,” the SSP said.

Thirty-six terrorists of Kishtwar declared as proclaimed offenders include Manzoor Ahmed alias Tahir Inqlabi, Manzoor Ahmed, Ghulam Mohammad, Nazir Ahmed alias Shaheen, Shabir Ahmed alias Junaid, Mohd Iqbal Reshi, Mohd Amin Bhat, Jamal Din Naik alias Mudasir, Shabir Ahmed, Bashir Ahmed Raina alias Showqat, Gulzar Ahmed alias Javed, Ghulam Hussain Sheikh, Imtiyaz Ahmed, Bashir Ahmed Chopan, Mohd Shafi alias Amjad, Ghulam Nabi Wani alias Majid, Abdul Karim, Gulabu, Mushtaq Ahmed, Mohd Irfan Khandey. Mohd Rafiq Khandey, Farooq Ahmed Ganie, Mohd Hanief Sheikh, Shah Nawaz Kanth, Nayeem Ahmed, Mohd Iqbal, Shahnawaz, Javid Hussain Giri, Bashir Ahmed Mughal, Gazi-ud-Din, Sattar Din, Imtiyaz Ahmed, Shabir Ahmed, Mohd Rafiq Khan, Muzaffer Ahmed and Azad Hussain.
