NEW DELHI: Hitting back at the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that in the name of protest against inflation and unemployment, the Congress party is trying to scare the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and protect the Gandhi family.

“There was discussion on inflation in the House. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman replied but the Congress walked out. In the name of protest against inflation and unemployment, they are trying to scare the ED and shield the Gandhi family,” said former Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Criticising former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi for misleading the country, Prasad said that he should first tell the country in what case he is out on bail.

He added that they had moved the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court to quash the case but got no relief. “Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have been out on bail since December 2015.”

In February 2016, the Supreme Court refused to interfere with the order of the Delhi High Court which had refused to quash the case.

Prasad said that Rahul is frustrated as there is no corruption in the Modi government. “Corruption was everywhere during Congress rule. Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ended corruption, the Congress is frustrated,” Prasad pointed out.

In his press conference on Friday morning, Rahul had said that there was no democracy in the country. Reacting to it, Prasad said, “There is no democracy in their party and they are talking about democracy!”

He also reminded Rahul of the Emergency and how people were put in jail at the time.
