NOIDA: Congress party launched massive protests against Zee News for airing a “doctored” video clip featuring former party president Rahul Gandhi, while incorrectly linking it to the Udaipur killing.

Party held demonstrations outside the Zee Group offices in Noida and Mumbai even as the group apologised.

Demonstrators raised slogans against the group, accusing it of spreading falsehood, biased reporting against the grand old party and trying to malign the image of Rahul Gandhi.

Party officials also burnt effigies and clashed with cops who tried to stop them from entering into the media office.

“This media outfit has tainted journalism in this country,” the Congress alleged.

Party’s women wings too joined the protest later during the day.

Meanwhile, Srinivas, Indian Youth Congress (IYC) chief tore into Zee group on Twitter with a pun, saying it was “Chee News”

Supriya Shirnate, Congress spokesperson posted the original video on her twitter handle while claiming the ‘Zee version’ of the video as doctored.

She also threatened to take legal action against them.

Earlier, Congress media and communications in charge and former Union environment minister Jairam Ramesh, who recently took charge, also wrote to BJP President J P Nadda, asking party to take action against Zee Group and its leaders who shared the fabricated clip.
