The Majhawan by-election featured three major contenders, Suchismita Maurya (BJP), Dr. Jyoti Bind (SP) and Deepak Tiwari alias Deepu (BSP).
The BJP has secured a decisive victory in the by-election for the Katehari Assembly seat, with its candidate Dharmaraj Nishad defeating Samajwadi Party's (SP) Shobhavati Verma by a margin of over 33,000 votes.
The main contenders were Tej Pratap Singh Yadav from the SP and Anuj Pratap Singh from the BJP, with five other candidates also in the fray.
