NEW DELHI: The counting of votes for the Haryana Assembly elections is underway, with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hoping to secure a third consecutive term in power. Buoyed by positive exit polls, the opposition Congress is also eyeing a return to power after a decade. In the Ladwa constituency, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is leading with 10,562 votes, while Congress candidate Mewa Singh trails behind

Ahead of the vote count, Saini visited the Saini Samaj Dharamshala in Kurukshetra, where he expressed confidence in forming the government for the third time. “We are certain that we will once again establish the government in Haryana. We have worked sincerely for the state’s development, beyond regional divides, and people are recognizing that. Congress’s false politics no longer has a place here. It’s in their DNA to blame EVMs whenever things don’t go their way,” Saini stated.

The battle for the Ladwa seat has garnered significant attention as it is seen as a critical constituency in this election. With Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini contesting from here, the race has become even more high-stakes. BJP has maintained a lead in Ladwa, with Saini pulling ahead of his Congress rival.

Ladwa holds strategic importance, particularly with the sizable Saini voter base in the area, which likely influenced BJP’s decision to field Saini here. The contest between BJP and Congress has been fierce, and no candidate has won the Ladwa seat twice. In 2009, INLD claimed the seat, BJP won it in 2014, and in 2019, Congress emerged victorious.
