NEW DELHI: Bahadur Singh, the Asian Games champion in men’s shot put, was elected as the new president of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) for the 2025-2029 term. The announcement was made today during the AFI’s general body meeting in Chandigarh, marking a significant moment in Indian athletics.

 

Singh, known for his remarkable achievements in the shot put, has now transitioned from athlete to administrator, with a vision to take Indian athletics to new heights. His election comes at a time when the nation is aiming to strengthen its presence on the global athletic stage, building on the successes seen in recent international competitions.
