NEW DELHI: General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), visited Dehradun, Uttarakhand, to assess operational preparedness and engage with troops stationed in the region. Accompanied by Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Command, the visit emphasized readiness and morale among the forces.

During his time in Dehradun, the COAS received detailed briefings from senior officers, including Lt Gen DG Misra, General Officer Commanding, Uttar Bharat Area, and Maj Gen Naveen Mahajan, General Officer Commanding, Golden Key Division. These presentations highlighted the operational capabilities, ongoing security initiatives, and infrastructure developments in the region.

General Dwivedi commended the troops for their professionalism, dedication, and steadfast commitment to national security. He stressed the importance of maintaining peak operational efficiency and adapting to evolving security challenges. The COAS also reiterated the Army’s focus on modernizing equipment, enhancing training standards, and fostering innovation to address future threats effectively.

 

In his interaction with soldiers, the COAS reaffirmed the Army leadership’s dedication to the welfare of personnel and their families, acknowledging their sacrifices. He extended heartfelt wishes for a happy and prosperous 2025 to all ranks and their families, boosting morale during the visit.

Before his Dehradun visit, General Dwivedi accompanied Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister, to Mhow Military Station on December 29-30, 2024. At Mhow, the Defence Minister was briefed by Lt Gen HS Sahi, Commandant of the Army War College, on the institute’s pivotal role in training military leaders for modern warfare. Rajnath Singh addressed officers at the Mhow Garrison, lauding their selfless service and dedication.
