NEW DELHI: The autopsy report of the 54-year-old chemist, who was stabbed to death in Amravati in Maharashtra, shows that he died due to stab injuries on the side of his neck.
According to the report, Umesh Kolhe was attacked with a sharp weapon that resulted in an eight-inch deep wound that reached his spine.
According to the autopsy report, Kolhe received stab injuries on the left side of the neck which is 8×2 cm deep. It reaches up to the spine. The report also said due to the deep cut, his jugular vein, oesophagus and trachea veins got cut. It further stated that Kolhe had also received a minor injury in his right leg.
A total of seven persons – Irfan Khan (32), who is stated to be the mastermind, Mudassar Ahmed alias Sonu Raza Sheikh Ibrahim (22), Shahrukh Pathan alias Badshasha Hidayat Khan (25), Abdul Taufik alias Nanu Sheikh Taslim (24), Shoeb Khan alias Bhurya Sabir Khan (22), Atib Rashid Aadil Rashid (22) and Yusuf Khan Bahadur Khan (44) have been arrested.
A team from National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating the case.
Three CCTV footage of the attack has also been recovered in which three attackers can be seen on a motorbike. They were waiting for Kolhe on the path of his home. Kolhe was brutally murdered by a group of three men who chased and attacked him while he was returning home after shutting his shop on June 21.
He was purportedly attacked for allegedly posting some comments in favour of Nupur Sharma, who made a comment on Prophet Muhammad in a TV debate, on a WhatsApp group called Black Freedom. This was a common group in which the people from both communities were the members.
