Accidental screen share leads to FIR for rape

New Delhi: A man in South Delhi is facing serious legal trouble after accidentally revealing his marital status during a video call with a woman he was deceiving. This incident led to the registration of an FIR for rape at Vasant Kunj North Police Station.

The victim, a resident of South Delhi, met the accused, Vicky Thakur, on the matrimonial website Jeevansathi.com. Thakur had introduced himself as a divorcee, claiming to be single and interested in marriage. He even met the victim’s parents and had wedding cards printed.

According to the victim, Thakur established a physical relationship with her, having taken her to a hotel multiple times. However, the truth began to unravel during a video call when Thakur accidentally shared his cellphone screen. The victim noticed a contact named “Love” on his phone and was told it was his ex-wife’s number. Growing suspicious, she recorded the screen and soon discovered that Thakur was still married, and the contact was his current wife.

Determined to confront him, the victim visited Thakur’s home, where she discovered he had children with his wife. Upon seeing her, Thakur allegedly threatened the victim before fleeing and avoiding further contact.

Left with no other option, the victim approached the police, who have since registered an FIR and are investigating the case.
