CHANDIGARH: Ahead of the Punjab Assembly poll, Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) candidate from Ferozepur (Rural) constituency Ashu Bangar resigned from the party, accusing the AAP leadership of issuing threats of cancellation of ticket to candidates in case they refused to toe their “dictatorial directions”.

Blaming AAP’s Punjab affairs incharge Raghav Chadha for his decision, Bangar alleged the Delhi MLA was running the party like a company. “Candidates are being pressurised with threats of their ticket being cut, so no one speaks up,” he claimed.

The resignation has come as a setback for the AAP, which has been pulling out all stops to emerge victorious in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections, results for which would be declared on March 10.

Bangar’s outburst came as Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal today said his party would announce the chief ministerial candidate for the Punjab Assembly polls on Tuesday.

Kejriwal had on January 13 asked the people of Punjab to suggest names of their preferred chief ministerial candidates by calling on a mobile phone number launched specially for the purpose.
