NEW DELHI: Since the attack by Palestinian militant group Hamas has unfolded in Israel, many stories have been unearthed that have shattered many hearts. One among those include the story of two Israeli sibling hostages- Noam and Alma Or, after being released by Hamas, who got to know that the reason they were not giving up while being kidnapped is that she is no longer alive.

In a cruel turn of fate after their release from Hamas captivity on November 25, the siblings came to know that their mother had been murdered during the October 7 attack by Hamas. Another major blow came when they got to hear that their father Dror is missing and believed to be held captive in Gaza by their relatives.

The siblings’ maternal uncle Ahal Besorai shared the incident while on an international media channel CNN. He said, “My sister, their mom, was murdered on October 7. The children did not know that,” said Besorai .

“We thought they were together when they were kidnapped, but they were separated from the outset,” he added, while sharing the traumatic experience by the two hostages. They were devastated and heart broken by the cruel turn of fate.

Besorai said, “When they first crossed the border and reunited with their grandmother and older brother, the first news that they had to confront was the fact that their mom is no longer alive. And that was a terribly emotional and traumatic moment for them.”

Many such heartbreaking stories have emerged from the region since October 7 when Hamas launched an unprovoked attack on Southern Israel. The militant group killed hundreds of innocent Israelis, beheaded babies and raped women. 240 hostages were reportedly abducted.

Israel declared war against Hamas to crackdown its terror network in Gaza. Currently, a truce is in place between Israel and Hamas till Wednesday.
