CHANDIGARH: Congress’ Punjab in-charge Harish Choudhary on Wednesday issued a show-cause notice to Congress MP from Patiala Preneet Kaur who is wife of former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh, seeking an explanation over her “anti-party” remarks.

The notice was issued days after Congress MP Preneet Kaur gave enough indications that she would soon be the part of her husband Capt Amarinder Singh’s Punjab Lok Congress.

Choudhary, in the notice, observed that the party high command has been continuously receiving reports from Congress workers, MLAs, leaders from Patiala and the media about her anti-party activities from the last many days.

The notice also made it clear that in case she failed to explain her stand within a period of seven days the party will be forced to take necessary disciplinary action.

“From the last many days, we are continuously receiving reports from Congress workers, MLAs, leaders from Patiala and the media about your anti-party activities. This information and news has been coming ever since your husband Captain Amarinder Singh ji resigned from the party and floated his own party: Punjab Lok Congress. We are also made aware of your open announcements in the media about siding with your husband’s party,” Choudhary wrote to the Lok Sabha MP.

It is worth to mention here that Patiala MP Preneet Kaur, recently had indicated that she may join the new political party, floated by her husband and Punjab’s former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.

“Capt Amarinder Singh has always stood by whatever commitment he makes. Main apne parivaar de naal haan (I am with my family),” said Preneet while talking with the media at an event in Samana on Sunday.

Preneet has not resigned from the Congress party to join her husband’s new political outfit formally. She has been actively participating in different meetings and events of Congress in Patiala.

Amarinder Singh on Thursday hit out at  Harish Chaudhary, asking him to explain what anti-party activities his wife, Preneet Kaur, had been indulging in.

After Capt Amarinder Singh tendered his resignation citing humiliation, he is working towards building his party for Punjab elections and at the same time is in contact with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). So far Singh is the lone soldier in his new outfit, but had announced that his Punjab Lok Congress would contest Punjab assembly polls on all 117 assembly seats.
