Sambit Patra, the BJP’s national spokesperson, claimed that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has unearthed “incriminating documents” at Sanjay Singh’s residence. Without explicitly naming anyone, Patra further argued that these documents would implicate an individual in a significant role within the AAP’s leadership structure.
NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh’s arrest in a money laundering case associated with the discontinued Delhi excise policy has incited a political dispute, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleging that the inquiry will eventually reach the residence of Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal.
Sambit Patra, the national spokesperson of the BJP, asserted that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has discovered “incriminating documents” at Singh’s home. Without directly mentioning anyone, Patra also contended that these documents would implicate a person holding a prominent position within the AAP hierarchy.
“It is the nature of the AAP to commit scams openly and do politics after getting caught,” Patra said at a press conference in Bhubaneswar.
“As per media sources, the incriminating documents procured from the house of Sanjay Singh will incriminate someone who is at the top in the hierarchy of AAP,” he added.
During a press briefing on Wednesday, former Delhi BJP chief and Lok Sabha member Manoj Tiwari stated that in the history of politics, he has never seen people with such a criminal background occupying political positions or offices.
“While Sanjay Singh has been arrested today, the spotlight will soon shift from Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia. I believe the ongoing probe will soon reach the threshold of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal,” Tiwari said.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has criticised the arrest, labelling it as a form of retaliatory politics. They claim that Singh is facing consequences for being one of the most outspoken figures within the opposition’s INDIA bloc.
“Are Manoj Tiwari and the BJP running the ED and CBI? This proves that it’s a conspiracy against us,” AAP spokesperson Reena Gupta said. On the other hand, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak remarked that the arrest was predominantly a result of the BJP’s realisation that it is extremely challenging to outdo Arvind Kejriwal.
“It has been 15 months, they have raided thousands of places but nothing has come out. In this case also, nothing will come out…They just want to break down the Aam Aadmi Party,” Pathak said.
AAP leader Dilip Pandey commented that the ED arrested Sanjay Singh when it came up empty-handed after an entire day of searching. He also added that the public would deliver a strong response to the BJP in the upcoming elections.
