PM Modi mocks Rahul Gandhi, says some in Congress are in contact with urban naxals
BHOPAL: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday sharpened his attacks on Congress, accusing it of making Madhya Pradesh a “bimaru” (ailing) state during its four decades of rule. He also alleged the opposition party’s link with “urban naxals”.
PM Modi also claimed that the Congress party hates developmental work and criticizes everything that happens in Bharat, his government’s new found beloved term for the country.
Addressing a BJP workers’ rally in Bhopal, he said, “Congress ruled MP for several years and made the state ‘bimaru’. This generation didn’t see Congress’s misrule and corruption in MP. This generation saw the development of the BJP government.”
“If a corrupt party like Congress gets a chance in MP, they will ruin the state. Wherever Congress has gone, that state has been looted. We shouldn’t let Congress take over the state. Congress will make MP bimaru again. Do you want MP to be bimaru again?” he asked a massive crowd at the Jamburi Maidan in the state capital.
PM Modi also cautioned youngsters, first-time voters, and women against the Congress party. “Modi means every guarantee will be fulfilled. I am here to remind the women of Madhya Pradesh that the guarantee Modi gave of women’s reservation bill has been successful,” he said.
Opposition parties will try to divide ‘Naari Shakti’, or women’s power, he said, urging them to stay united and not fall prey to Congress’s “divisive politics”.

He also took a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, claiming that he could not feel the pain of the poor because he was born with a “silver spoon”.
“Congress has lost all its willpower. The grassroots leaders of Congress have been sitting quietly with their mouths locked… First, Congress was ruined, then they became bankrupt, and now they have given their contract to someone else. The party is no longer being run by its leaders. Now it is outsourcing everything, from slogans to policies, and this contract is with some urban Naxalites,” he said.
The prime minister was addressing the rally on the birth anniversary of Jana Sangh co-founder Deendayal Upadhyaya. The rally was also the formal culmination of the BJP’s Jan Ashirwad Yatras in run-up to the 2023 assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh wherein chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will seek the fifth term.
