Safdarjung hospital all set to commence evening OPD from October 1

Safdarjung Hospital Extends OPD Services Till Evening for Medicine, Surgery, and Paediatrics Starting October 1

NEW DELHI: Safdarjung Hospital will commence the Outpatient (OPD) service till evening from October 01 for its medicine, surgery and paediatrics departments. To be known as ‘Screening OPD’, the central govt run hospital will provide registration for patients seeking OPD from medicine, surgery and pediatric departments up till 5:30 pm.

While speaking to the media Dr Vandana Talwar, Superintendent, Safdarjung Hospital said, “The hospital sees a daily footfall of around 10000 patients requiring OPD service.

To manage the load with proper parameters the initiative of evening OPD has been taken where patients can register till 5:30 pm.”

Doctors will consult patients from 12 noon to 6 pm, says Dr. Vandana, the first woman Superintendent appointed at Safdarjung hospital in the past 80 years. This OPD will run in the make-shift centre built for the treatment of Corona in the hospital.

The screening OPD will be inaugurated on September 25. The necessary orders have been issued by the hospital management for the purchase of linear escalator machines to provide radiotherapy to cancer patients.

However, to stop the harmful radiation, a bunker will be prepared for the machine, so that the side-effects of radiation do not harm the public. Along with this the hospital administration is also considering streamlining the patients for a more systematic approach.
