NEW DELHI: Mumbai BJP has voiced strong opposition to an upcoming concert in Mumbai by Canadian singer Shubh, also known as Shubhneet Singh, who is alleged to have supported Khalistan-related causes on social media.

Its president Tejinder Singh Tiwana, along with the city’s Joint Police Commissioner for Law and Order, Satyanarayan Chaudhary, submitted a memorandum to the Mumbai Police on September 15 demanding strict action against Singh and the cancellation of all his performances in India.

In the memorandum, Tiwana called Singh an “enemy of India” and said that he had “conspired to break the unity and integrity of the country.” The memorandum specifically cited Singh’s recent Instagram post of a map of Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab without India, as well as another post titled “Pray for Punjab.”

“There is no place in India for those who aim to undermine the unity and integrity of the country,” Tiwana said in a statement. “We will not allow Canadian singer Shubh, who is plotting to break the country, to perform in India.”

Tiwana also urged the concert organizers, Team Innovation, Percept Limited, and Cordelia Cruise, to reconsider hosting the event. He said that if the necessary actions were not taken, protests would follow.

The memorandum calls for the Mumbai Police to file an FIR (First Information Report) against Singh for his alleged anti-India social media posts. Singh has a significant social media following, including many young people from India.
