Among the delectable delights being served, the spotlight shines brightly on two extraordinary elements – everyone’s beloved Golgappe and the millets, also known as Shri Anna for its rich nutritional value.

US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and an array of international delegates will savour the lip-smacking golgappe and millet-based dishes throughout their stay at the summit.

Muktesh K Pardeshi, the special secretary of G20 operations, while talking to The New Indian, shed light on the meticulous planning that goes into serving world leaders. “A detailed and meticulous research is done to ascertain whether they have any allergies or special food preferences, ensuring that every dietary need is met,” he explained.

Over the course of two days, the delegates will also have the opportunity to explore an array of regional varieties of chaat – a popular street food prepared from potatoes and some other vegetables.

But why millets, you may wonder? 2023 has been designated as the ‘Year of Millets,’ and the summit aims to champion this nutrient-rich grain. Millet-based cuisines, with their health benefits and sustainable agricultural practices, reflect India’s commitment to promoting a healthier and eco-friendly future.
