Stalin should be booked under National Security Act, demands Kashyap’s mother
NEW DELHI: Mother of Bihar-based YouTuber Manish Kashyap, who is currently behind bars for allegedly spreading fake news, has pleaded with President Droupadi Murmu for strict action against Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for his ‘annihilate Sanatan Dharma’ remark.
Kashyap was arrested by the Tamil Nadu Police on charges of spreading fake news after a video clip posted by him triggered migration from Chennai and some other parts of Tamil Nadu in March this year.
In her letter to the President, Madhu Devi wondered why Udhayanidhi, the son of Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin, has not been booked under the stringent National Security Act (NSA) for creating divide between two communities.

“If Manish can be booked under NSA for trying to create a rift between two communities, then why is no similar action taken against Udhayanidhi?” she wrote.
She alleged that Kashyap, who rose to fame by raising public issues and exposing corruption on his YouTube channel ‘Sach Tak’, was treated unfairly by the governments of Tamil Nadu and Bihar.
“The video of what happened with migrant workers in Tamil Nadu started doing rounds on social media starting February 15. Print media started publishing it from February 21 while coverage in the electronic media started from (the beginning) of the month,” she wrote.
The YouTuber’s mother further alleged a “collusion” between Tamil Nadu and Bihar – both ruled by non-BJP parties who now are part of INDIA alliance.
“His only crime was that he asked why people from Bihar are harassed and mistreated in other states.”

Kashyap, who regularly made videos on important issues related to Bihar, was in Madurai jail for 5 months and he was transferred to Beur jail of Patna last month.
She argued that a strict punishment to the DMK leader will instill a sense of confidence among common people that the law treats every citizen equally – either someone is an ordinary Indian or the son of a chief minister.
She also requested the Supreme Court to form an independent committee to investigate “what happened with migrant workers in Tamil Nadu”.
“I am not well educated but I am the wife of an army man and the mother of a brave son. I hope that the President will do justice with my son and give the same punishment to the CM’s son that an ordinary citizen has been given,” her emotional appeal reads.
