Pakistan’s Seema Haider and India’s Sachin share their lives ahead and their one wish from the government of India after the court grants them bail in their illegal stay case
NEW DELHI: I would often think of myself as Sakeena from Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, as I am from Pakistan.
Seema Haider made no bones about the fact that her love story, which brought her from Karachi in Pakistan to Greater Noida in India, is inspired by Ameesha Patel-Sunny Deol starrer ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’.
Talking to The New Indian, as monsoon rain drenched Delhi and the national capital region, Seema shares her story that has become the talk of the town. She also spoke about her wish to meet the ‘Gadar’ star cast, but despite her fairytale love story, she looked aware of reality.

“Itna accha luck kahan hain hamara ki unse mil paaye (we are not as lucky as we could meet with him). I will faint if he comes in front of me. Sunny Deol is my favourite. Though he made a film against Pakistan, he is my favourite actor,” Seema said.
Seema fell in love with Sachin while playing PUBG. After doing her research on the internet, and charting the course through YouTube videos, Seema came to India via Nepal along with her three children.
Uttar Pradesh Police arrested Seema and Sachin after they came to know about the presence of a woman from Pakistan in Greater Noida’s Rabupara village.

On Friday, the court granted them bail and ordered them not to leave the city till the investigations are on. Seema was also interrogated by security agencies on suspicion of being a spy.
While their courtship was full of drama, there was no drama at Sachin’s home, as his family was quick to accept a Pakistani woman of a different religion with four children – three girls and a boy.
“I have accepted the Hindu religion and will soon take a dip in the river Ganga to fully adopt Hinduism. I have also changed the names of my children,” she told The New Indian.
“We have accepted Seema and her four children. People are coming to our home to see her. Everyone is giving my son and Seema their best wishes,” Seema’s father-in-law, Netrapal Meena, said. “I will soon organise her marriage with my son with the full support of my community and my village,” he added.
While he admitted that they became aware of Seema only after the police came to their house, Netrapal said, “Love knows no boundaries. Whatever has happened, we hope it happened for good reasons.”
“I am very happy today. Seema has started helping with household affairs. I will teach her our culture,” Sachin’s mother, Ritu, added.
While she was married, Seema claims it was the respect that she yearned for and the respect that Sachin gave her that made her cross the borders to be with him.
“He (her Pakistani husband) would never respect me. Sachin, fight with me, but also respect me a lot. I will never leave him or India. Here, I have a family and want to stay here for my whole life. I love the country, India,” she added.

Sachin, who is still adjusting to life under the limelight, said, “I would request people not to call me jija (son-in-law) of Pakistan. Please don’t put such posts on social media.”
Sachin also said that he is now focused on giving quality education to Seema’s four children. “I will work hard for them. I want to give them a good education. I will also try to give them a good life,” he said.
Meanwhile, both Seema and Sachin appealed to the government to grant her and her children citizenship. “We just want to appeal to the government to give her and her children citizenship. With that, we will be able to send the children to school and give them an education,” Sachin added.
