LUCKNOW: Former UP CM and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday embarked on a tour on the 341-km long Purvanchal Expressway, that was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday.

Modi had inaugurated the 341-km long Purvanchal Expressway on Tuesday from Sultanpur and slammed the previous governments for neglecting the Purvanchal (eastern) areas of development. READ & WATCH: Purvanchal Flies After PM Lands On Road By Air, CM Yogi Jet-Starts 2022

The Prime Minister then also watched the Indian Air Force (IAF) air show in Sultanpur as the fighter jets landed on the 3.2 km long stretch of the expressway which has been prepared for the landing of aircrafts in emergency situation.

The Prime Minister traveled in IAF’s C130J Hercules transport aircraft to Sultanpur which landed on the same expressway and then returned.to Delhi from the same aircraft.

Akhilesh Yadav soon retorted to the BJP accusing it of changing the name of the Samajwadi Purvanchal Expressway to Purvanchal Expressway.

While addressing a press conference on Tuesday in Lucknow, Akhilesh Yadav said, “The BJP which didn’t work for last four and half years is now busy in inaugurating the projects.”

Targeting Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he said, “The BJP is busy in putting hurdles in the way of the Samajwadi Party, which is a result of their failure and it is reason why they are doing inauguration of projects which were launched during his stint.”

Slamming the BJP, the Samajwadi Party leader said that the BJP is excellent in opting the projects of other parties.

Akhilesh Yadav questioned, “How will BJP rewrite the history, as the foundation stone for the Samajwadi Purvanchal Expressway was laid in December 2016. It was our government which approved the budget for the expressway.”

On Wednesday, Akhilesh Yadav started his Purvanchal Expressway journey after addressing a massive rally in Ghazipur’s Pakhanpur.

Akhilesh Yadav will be travelling on the Expressway from Ghazipur to Lucknow covering districts like Mau, Azamgarh, Ambedkar Nagar, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Amethi, Barabanki as part of fourth leg of his Vijay Rath Yatra.
