Two RJD leaders are on the target of coordinated CBI searches in the land-for-job case
PATNA: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) launched a series of raids at nine locations as part of their investigation into the land-for-job scam on Tuesday morning.
The searches are being conducted in various places including Patna, Bhojpur, and Aara in Bihar, and Delhi, Gurugram, and Noida. Among the locations being searched is the residence of former minister Prem Chand Gupta, who is believed to be a close associate of former chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Yadav.
In Bihar, the CBI has targeted the residences of first-time RJD legislator Kiran Devi, who enjoys good relations with the Lalu Yadav family. Her husband Arun Yadav, is a prominent sand contractor.
The raids are currently taking place at their residence in Angiyawan in Bhojpur district and her official residence at Patna’s Harding Road.
Arun Yadav owns a lavish bungalow in Angiyawan village and he was present at the sprawling mansion during the CBI raid.
The alleged land-for-jobs scam pertains to “illegal appointments” of candidates in the railways department during Lalu’s tenure as the railway minister in the UPA government.
Lalu, his wife and former Bihar CM Rabri Devi and 14 others have already been chargesheeted by the CBI for their role in providing employment in return for land parcels gifted or sold at cheap rates to the Yadav family and its associates.
In March, Lalu and Rabri were questioned by the agency in the case.
