Amid the ongoing Trinetra, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited Rajouri district in Jammu division on Saturday to assess the security situation in the aftermath of the recent terror attack. During his visit, he commended the unwavering dedication of the armed forces in their efforts to combat terrorism. He also made a promise to the nation that the terrorists responsible for the Rajouri attack would be brought to justice. “We will hunt them down,” he asserted during his address to the troops of 14 Corps stationed at Army’s Rajouri base camp.

During his visit to the Army Base Camp in Rajouri in Jammu division, the Defence Minister reviewed the operational capabilities and security situation along the border. Appreciating the valour of Army troops, Singh said, “Keep your spirits up, and you will definitely achieve success.”

While paying tribute to the five fallen soldiers during the ongoing Operation Trinetra, he further stated, “India salutes their devotion to protecting our motherland.”

During his visit, he received a briefing on the security situation by senior Army officers for approximately 40 minutes. He also interacted with troops and praised their efforts in securing the borders.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha, Army Chief General Manoj Pande, Northern Army commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, and other senior Army officers accompanied him.

Five soldiers lost their lives, and an officer sustained injuries in the anti-terror operation in the Kandi area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri on May 5. The five soldiers were killed during the anti-terror ‘Operation Trinetra’ of the Indian Army, along with Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF.

Contact with the hiding terrorist was established again late last night. Army officials stated that in the ensuing gunfight, “one terrorist was neutralized, and one other was likely injured” in a fresh exchange of fire in Kandi in the early hours of Saturday. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the dead terrorist, although his identity is still being ascertained.

The joint cordon and search operation launched by the Army with JK police and other paramilitary forces to flush out the rest of the terrorists is ongoing as of the filing of this report.
