Tamil Nadu CM and DMK chief to address leaders of different opposition parties fighting for social justice
At least 14 opposition political parties will join the mega meeting titled ‘Social Justice, The Road Ahead on April 3. The meeting was called by Tamil Nadu Chief minister and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief MK Stalin, where the leaders will join virtually as well as physically.
Amid speculations that the meeting was called to strengthen the opposition and unite them ahead of the 2024 general elections, DMK sources told The New Indian that it will be an apolitical meeting to discuss various social issues.
The purpose of the first meeting of the concept, ‘The All India Federation for Social Justice’, is to take forward the struggle for social justice. The idea was floated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister in January, DMK sources said.
Talking about the meeting, Communist Party of India (CPI) general secretary D Raja said, “This is a meeting to bring political parties and other organisations together on one platform who are committed to upholding the ideal of social justice. There will be references to several other issues too.”
Top leaders from Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Trinamool Congress, Congress, Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (NC), Samajwadi Party (SP), Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M ), CPI and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will attend the meeting either virtually or physically.
However, all eyes will be on the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) whether they will participate in the meeting or not, though invitations have been sent to both political parties.
TN CM Stalin would be opening the meeting with keynotes, however, all the political leaders will be given slots to address the gathering and convey their party’s beliefs.
A DMK party source confirms that no political issues revolving inside and outside the parliament, to which oppositions are unitedly demanding answers, will be discussed.
