The second phase of the Budget session began on a tumultuous note on Monday with BJP demanding Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s apology for allegedly insulting Indian Parliament and democracy on foreign soil, days after his speech in London.

On the first day of the session, Congress President & LoP Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge chaired a meeting of Congress MPs at the Congress Parliament Party office in Parliament. MPs Sonia Gandhi and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury were present among others at the meeting. The Congress continues to demand a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the allegations related to the Adani Group.
In Cambridge, the Congress MP again alleged that the Opposition’s voice was being stifled in Parliament.
A stormy session is expected with the opposition parties gearing up to continue to corner the government on issues such as alleged misuse of probe agencies to target their leaders, allegations against the Adani Group, border standoff with China, price rise, and unemployment.
