MUMBAI: Prabhakar Sail, an independent witness in the drugs-on-cruise case involving Aryan Khan son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, on Monday appeared before the Narcotics Control Bureau’s (NCB) vigilance team to record his statement.

Sail arrived at the CRPF Mess in Bandra along with his lawyers to record his statement. He appeared before the drug-law enforcement agency after he was summoned by the NCB Vigilance team on Sunday.

Sail has levelled allegations of bribery against NCB’s Mumbai Zonal Unit Director Sameer Wankhede in his affidavit.

Earlier in the day, a six-member team of the NCB on Monday arrived in Mumbai to probe the allegations of bribery and extortion against Wankhede and visited several places related to the drugs case involving Aryan Khan.

The NCB Vigilance team, led by its north zone DDG Gayneshwar Singh, arrived in Mumbai and visited the Lower Parel site where Shah Rukh Khan’s manager Pooja Dadlani allegedly met KP Gosavi, an independent witnesses in the drugs case.

The NCB team also visited Indiana Bar near Haji Ali Signal, mentioned in the affidavit filed by Sail in the court. This is the second time the vigilance team is in Mumbai for investigations in this case.

“We inspected a number of places associated with the case. We are hopeful that Sail will come today to record his statement,” Singh added.

The NCB has ordered a vigilance inquiry against Wankhede over allegations of bribery and extortion. Gosavi, who was on the run after October 3, was arrested by Pune Police in connection with a fraud case.

Wankhede came under scanner following the allegations levelled by a witness in the cruise ship case, Sail, of an extortion bid of Rs 25 crore by NCB and independent witnesses Gosavi to let off Aryan Khan. NCB had last week transferred six cases including that of Aryan Khan to Delhi from Mumbai and constituted a SIT under Sanjay Singh, DDG Delhi.

The NCB Vigilance team had earlier recorded the statement of Wankhede for over four hours.

Wankhede along with his team had carried out raids at Goa-bound luxury cruise on October 2. Aryan Khan along with seven others were arrested on October 3 in the case.
