Like In Past, Siachen To Jaisalmer, PM Spends 8th Diwali With Soldiers. This Time In Nowshera

JAMMU: Keeping in line with his decision to spend Diwali with soldiers on border since he became the Prime Minister in 2014, PM Narendra Modi on Thursday again visited the forward areas of Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera in Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier, PM had visited Siachen in 2014, Amritsar in 2015, Lahaul Spiti in Ladakh 2016, Gurez in Kashmir in 2017, Uttarakhand in 2018, Rajouri in Jammu in 2019 and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan in 2020. Diwali Gift: WHO Grants Approval To Covaxin; Bharat Biotech MD Thanks PM

In his visit, on Diwali this year, PM spoke about contributions of Nowshera’s heroes like Brigadier Mohammad Usman, Naik Jadunath Singh and Lt RR Rane for dedicating their lives for the nation either with martyrdom or by leading the operations against enemy.

Without naming Pakistan, PM said that after India conducting surgical strikes post Uri terror attack in 2016, there were attempts, to disrupt peace in Nowshera, that still continue.

He expressed satisfaction that the participation of women in India’s defence forces were expanding from Air Force, Navy to Army with the permanent commission (PC).

We have already have doors opened for women at National defence academy, Rashtriya Military School, and National Indian Military College for women and now Sainik Schools for girls are coming

He stressed on Atmanirbharta in the defence sector, saying 65% of India’s budget allocation for defence was now being used within the country.

“More than 200 items needed in armed forces are being made and purchased from within India. We will be expanding this list. We are already becoming a exporter,” he said.
