Sahil Gehlot married Nikki Yadav in 2020 but his family never accepted the Haryana woman. His father (right) knew about their marriage.

Delhi resident Sahil Gehlot married his live-in partner Nikki Yadav in 2020 but agreed to marry another woman under his family’s pressure. As the pressure grew, they decided to flee the city but later he murdered her in cold blood, as per police.

As per new revelations in the sensational murder case, the Delhi Police have arrested Sahil father and four others who were aware of the murder and his previous marriage with Nikki — a native of Haryana’s Jhajjar.

On the night of February 9, Sahil Gehlot strangled his live-in partner Nikki near Kashmere Gate with a smartphone charger cable, chopped her body into pieces and stored it in a refrigerator at his family-run food joint.

He married another woman chosen by his family the next day, February 10.

During its investigation, police found that Sahil’s father Virendra Gehlot was aware of the murder of Nikki Yadav. Despite that, he allowed him to marry another woman.

Four others arrested by the police – Sahil’s two cousins Ashish and Naveen and two friends Amar and Lokesh – also knew about Nikki’s murder. Naveen is a constable in the Delhi Police.

All five accused have been sent to police custody by a local court for two days.

Police said after sustained interrogation, Sahil also disclosed that Nikki was asking him not to marry another girl because both (Sahil and Nikki) had already solemnised their marriage in the year 2020. Police said Nikki was actually his wife and not a live-in partner. Therefore, she was pleading with him not to go ahead with the marriage fixed by his family with another woman on February 10.

Thereafter, all five hatched the conspiracy and planned to remove the deceased from their way.

Accordingly, Sahil murdered her and informed the other co-accused persons about it on the same day of his marriage and then they went ahead with the wedding ceremony.

The police have also verified the details of Sahil and Nikki’s marriage with a Noida-based temple where they solemnised their marriage two years ago.

After their marriage, they lived together in Noida in rented accommodation but returned to their homes due to the Covid pandemic.

Nikki lived in Jhajjar, Haryana with his parents and a younger sister. Sahil lives in Baba Haridas Nagar with his family. Later, Nikki along with his sister shifted to a flat in the Bindapur area in Delhi. Sahil would often visit her at her flat.

Police said Sahil’s family members were not accepting their marriage and would often force him to leave Nikki and marry another woman.
